Hello Nancy,
I am just beginning researching this TOWNS family, so I have next to no information. (This is my wife's family). Her grandfather, James Harold Towns, thinks his line goes like this:
James Harold Towns, b.1924, Telfair Co., GA. Living, Son of
James Clayton Towns, b. ? in Telfair Co., Ga. d. ? m. ? Son of
Major Lewis Towns, b. ?, d. ? m. ? Son of
Peter Towns, b. ? d. ? m. ?
He says he has a lot more information somewhere, but can't find it right now. I was wondering if the Peter Towns he says is his ggrandfather might be your Peter Tatum Towns. I looked in the 1860 census for Telfaire Co. and it does show that Peter had a son named Lewis. Perhaps that is Major Lewis Towns?
Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. I read the other messages here in the forum, and you mentioned that you have some pictures of the Towns tombstones and about 29 pages of data. I would love any and all information you would be willing to share. Meanwhile, I am pushing my wife's grandfather to find his information so that I will be albe to share it with everyone!
