Michael,

A quick look at the 1880 Alabama census shows a Isaac Towns in Calhoun County. He was 56 and born in South Carolina. You might try the 1900 census and see if Leo is in the household with Isaac or Martha. Martha seems a little old at 50 to have a child in 1883, but you never know or Isaac could remarry.

I am a descendant of Thomas Townes. His son Halcut or Halcot moved to Missouri and at least passed through TN. Thomas died in Tenn probably at the home of a son, although I have no proof of that. I would start with census records from 1950 to 1900 and see what you can learn. After you know who was where, you can look for marriage records to possibly tie generations together.
