Hi Shannon, Your nice message deserves a response, especially because of the camellias! I THINK that your Henry Hall Townes could be part of this family below, which is probably related to me. This source below is from the internet, unverified by me, except that I've added the note [JR] because I'm sure Joanna (Lois) Hall did not marry the the Samuel Allen Townes [1773-1826] who married Rachel STOKES and is the father of George Franklin Townes [1809-1891], my great grandfather. [The repetition of names is crazy!] This younger Samuel Allen Townes could be the brother of MY G. F. Townes, and I'm embarrassed that I don't know. But here's the internet thing. Good luck, Liz 3. Joanna (Lois) Hall Born 14th September 1811. Died 1856. Married 23rd January 1834 Samuel Allen Townes [JR] a. Byron Townes. Born 11th January 1835. Probably died in infancy. b. Frances Townes. Born 4th April 1837. c. Samuel A Townes. Born 25th May 1840. Married with issue. d. Georgianna Townes. Born 31st August 1842. e. Henry H Townes. Born 15th August 1845. f. George Franklin Townes. Born 11th February 1849. g. John Allen Townes. Born 18th December 1850. BTW, I think there's some stuff about Joanna in this book, which you can search now on google. South by Southwest: Planter Emigration and Identity in the Slave South By James David Miller, U VA Press, 2002. The excerpts are titillating. Notify Administrator about this message?
