My records show Caleb as son of John and Ann Townes. John died in Amelia County, Virginia, 1751. Other children were John, Stephen, Joel, Daniel, Marian (Mary Ann), and possibly Lucy and Ann. Lunenburg County order book 7, page 223, March 1761: Wardens of Cornwall Parrish in this county (illegible)Caleb Townes orphan of John Townes according to law. Lunenburg County order book 9, page 344, April 1764: Caleb Townes vs his master Charles Hunt book 10, page 5, May 1764: Paul Carrington atty for Caleb Townes. Townes removed from Hunt and church wardens bind him to Samuel White Theops Carter's state enumerations page 90, Halifax County, 1785: Caleb Townes - 7 whites, 2 dwellings, 1 other building Halifax County will book 9, page 428, 18 December 1813, Caleb Townes; wife Patience; children Betsy Ann, Lucinda, Nancy, Polly, Stephen, John D., Daniel C.; executors friends Chapness Terry, John Barksdale, sons Stephen, John D., and Daniel C.; proved 25 March 1814; securities William Banks, John Henry, William Leigh, George Townes Notify Administrator about this message?
