I'm very interested in your mention of Eli Towne. I have an ancestor who married an Eli Towne. She was Minerva Deye OWINGS.

Here's the information I have:

Eli TOWNE-5235 was born 24 Apr 1781 in Sturbridge, Worcester, MA. Owings and Allied Families, third edition, p 701, said of Eli Towne, "Eli Towne of Woodsborough, Frederick Co., Maryland."
Eli married Minerva DEYE OWINGS-5234, daughter of Edward OWINGS and Charlotte DEYE COLEGATE, on 13 Mar 1817 in , Frederick, MD, German Church. Minerva was born 25 Jul 1783 in , Baltimore, MD.
BIRTH-MARRIAGE: Owings; "Owings and Allied Families;" page 701 - ...m. ... Eli Towne of Woodsborough, Frederick, MD. Marriage may have been 20 Mar 1817 - Charles J. Peterson; <PetersonC@missouri.edu>; worldconnect.
They had the following children:
2 M i. Edward Owings TOWNE was born 1818. He died 1871.
Edward married Emma CLISTER-5420 on 1838. Emma died 1852.

Do you know anything about them? Is there any mention of them in your "Descendants of William Towne"? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
