Salem Darius Towne also produced a "Marriage Memorial and Wedding Souvenir" (five printings); among other books. His lineage: William [1], Jacob [2], John [3], Israel [4][5], Abner [6], Abner Fairchild [7] Towne. He was b. in Clarksburg MA on 9 May 1857 to Abner Fairchild Towne and Amanda C. Ingraham. He m. Sarah Wheeler on 19 Nov 1878 in VT. Worked as a teacher and bookkeeper in Bennington VT before attending the Theological Seminary in Bangor ME in 1882. Was pastor of several churches in Maine; served the Maine Missionary Society; and published numerous papers. He died in 1943; had three children: Ernest Wheeler Towne, Edward Read Towne and Florence Towne Walker.
