I looked in a couple sources that I have and I'm afraid didn't see anything that jumped right out at me. I did see a James TOWLES, son of Colonel Henry TOWLES of "Towles's Point" born 1738, died 1799, member of Lancaster Co. Committee of Safety and 1774-76 a Colonel of Militia during the Revolution . Member of House of Delagates in 1783, Clerk of lancaster 1794-1799, member of Virginia Convention of 1788. Married Judith DIGGS. Children:
(2)Stokeley, m. Mary Ball, removed to
Spottsylvania Co, d. 1811
(3)Elizabeth Martin, died young
(4)Sarah, m. Charles Leland of
Northumberland Co.
(5) James
(6) Frances, b. April 14, 1781, d.5 Oct
1816, m. a cousin, Porteus TOWLES
(7) Thomas
(8) Oliver, believed to have died
Unfortunately, not much info at all on James, except that he had to have been born before 1781! There was one other James TOWLES that I found, but he was born to the Henry, son of Col Henry TOWLES, but he was Clerk of LAncaster Co 1799-1820 and died in 1820 and was m. to Felicia Chowning, so he could not be the James you are searching for. I'll keep looking to see what else I turn up. Regards, Keith
