Don:

Thanks for your great work on findagrave.com with regard to the Towles family. I may have some errors in my information, as is usually the case when doing genealogy work. Also I have a few questions that I hope you have some information on. I have highlighted the questions.

I have not seen Morris G. Towles family Bible but was told that William Towles, father of Toliver Towles, died in Dale County, Alabama on 14 October 1854 (Source: Towles Family Bible, owned by Morris G. Towles). This may be incorrect, because I have not seen a copy of the Bible page to verify this.

Since Tallapoosa County, Alabama, is to the west and adjacent to Chambers County, Alabama, it would make more sense that William Towles, Toliver Towles father, would be buried there, rather than Dale County, Alabama. I notice that you have WILIAM TOWLES (b: 1779 d: 19 Nov 1851, Tallapossa Co, Alabama) listed as a Colonel. Do you have a little more information on his rank as a Colonel? Was it the militia?

If you get back to the Rocky Mount Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Tallapoosa Co, AL will you take a picture of William Towles grave stone and send me a copy? I would greatly appreciate it.

I have a birth year of William Towles as 15 Jun 1774 in Ninety Six Dist, SC. I got his birth date from other Towles researchers who indicated that it was recorded in Morris Towles family Bible. You have 1779, I would assume from the grave stone. Did the grave stone list 1779 as his birth year?

I have never been to Denson, Chambers County, Alabama. I understand that Toliver Towles (b: Jan 1800 in Edgefield County, South Carolina d: 14 Jun 1873 in Chambers County, Alabama) is buried on the Old Towles Plantation there (Source: records left by his granddaughter, Sarah Towles, daughter of Dr. Albert Towles and Mary Ann Howell). Have you ever been where the old plantation was located? I would like to visit there sometime if I am in that area.

Thanks,
David Couch
