I hope you get this message. I realize that your posting was done in 1998, but this was very exciting to come upon.
I too am a descendant of Tabitha Towles and James Abney. I am down from their son, Joel Abney.
I am wondering if the mystery was ever solved of who Tabitha's parents were? I am trying to find proof that James is the son of Michael Abney.( Most Abney researchers have this listed, but no proof is shown.) Proof is very hard to come by. I have not found a will or probate for either James or Michael.
I would love to hear from you. I will try the e-mail address given, but do not hold out much hope as it is such an old one.
