In Reply to: Re: CHRISTOPHER TOWLER FAMILY by Annette DeCourcyTowler of 139

Hi Annette
According to Juby's book From The Fruit of the Garden my Christopher was the son of Absolum and grandson of Mathew Towler who was the son of Maire Towler who came to America in 1635 on the ship named the INCREASE and landed in Currituck County, North Carolina. Marie was a bond servant who married one John Mason. She had 2 sons one named Matthew Towler and the other named other named James Towler, and I do not know who their father was, I think we might assume that their father may have been the man that she was bonded to. Christopher sons were Benjamin Towler,Luke Towler, Christopher R. Towler and Henry Towler.
#1 Luke Towler was a school teacher in Charles City County, Virginia for over 50 years and married Nancy Crum, they had 2 children that I know of Francis W. Towler who did not marry and Nancy Towler who married Joshua Parkinson/ Luke died in Charles City County in September 1822, Luke was born about 1845. #2. Christopher R. Towler was born about 1750 and married a Mildred Thompson their children Mary "Polly" Towler married George Hardwick, and Christopher Towler married a Edy Meade in Bedford County, VA in Jan of 1801. # 3. Henry Towler was born Oct 28 1760 and died in 1805 and he had moved to Bedford County. #4. Benjmain Towler was born in 1752 in Charles City County, and died in 1837 in Gibson County, Tennessee he married a Martha Darby from near Richmond. I understand that they had 5 daughters but I only know of 3 of them a "Sally"/ Sarah Towler who married Capt. Issac Dancy and moved to Tennessee, She died in 1822, Martha Towler who married John Reese and they moved to Tennessee, and Mary/ Nancy Marie Towler who married William Elder and they moved to Rutherford County, Tennessee and later to Gibson County, Tennessee Mary my 4th great grandmother died in Jan. 1865.
Benjmain Towler, Luke Towler and Christopher R. Towler all served our country during the Revolution. My Benjamin moved to Dinwiddie County during the revolution and later to Rutherford County, TN and then to Gibson County, TN. Reading through what records I have he signed his last name as Towler but other records show Toler. I do know that Benjamin was in Dinwiddie County at the same time that Japeth and his family was there and I assume that they had to be family. Thanks
