On page 584 of the Tower Genealogy, you will find that Emma E Tower, Dau of Stephen D and Esther E (Beals) Tower B. Aug 22,1838;Mar. Issac Congden of Pomfret, Conn, Dec 11,1853. He was born in Pomfret. Jan 23, 1833 and was the son of Hezekiah and Elizabeth (Medbury) Congdon. They had seven children:
I. Ellen Elizabeth B. June 12,1854 in Windsor, Ma
II. Ida Esther b. Nov 29,1855 in Dalton, MA
III. Sarah Jane b.Aug 25 1857 In Dalton,MA
IV. Harriet Louisa b.July 31, 1859 In Dalton
V. Edwin Horatio b.Oct 26,1861 in Dalton, MA
VI.Willis Augustus b. Aug 27, 1866 in Dalton
VII. Edgar Eugene b. July 14,1868 in Dalton.
From the record, it appears that she was 15 when wed,He was 20. When the civil war broke out, he was 28, a prime candidate for one of the Mass regiments. He obviously survived the war, because in 1866 Willis Augustus was born....
I have no further information on the Congdens, but would appreciate it if you could fill me in on what and how they descended to you?
