Searching for my Mathias Toussaint (born abt. 1834, abt. the same time as your Mathias) and Kath Normann Toussaint who immigrated from Germany with their children to the U.S., arriving on 11 APR 1893 in New York, I find a few records on your Mathias and Catherine in Chicago. Census, voter lists, etc.. Daughter of my Mathias and Kath, Susanna, ended up in Menominee, Menominee, Michigan where she married Mathias Kiefer. My Mathias Toussaint had sons Wihlem and Henry and daughters Sussana and Katie. I wonder if our Mathias's are connected? Since we both have much diffuculty piecing together our Toussaints, perhaps we are one and the same??? I have a public tree, "Kiefer Family". You might want to check that to see if there is a possible connection. If so message me from there and we can investigate further.
