I don't have any specific info on this person, but from my research I have found these two family names, Turpin and Toupin, to be distinct and usually not connected or used as alternates to one another. There were separate French settlers named Toupin and Turpin in New France. But it is always possible that one of these names could have been an alias for the other. Have you come across any documents which connect these two names?
