What was language of your ancestor?

VERNISKI is an americanized version, right.
SKI ending would suggest Polish surname but no V in Polish alphabet.

Vernisky, Anton 21 1894 1915
Vernicke, Maria 54 1853 1907 view
Vernicrky, Mikaly Bokony, Hungary 27 1882 1909
Wernicki, Michal Sloleada, Galicy 17 1892 1909

When did Mike [Mihaly Hungarian] and Elizabeth [Erzsebet] arrive to America?

TOTH is a very popular/common surname
