Luis Torres (late 1800's) Salem, NM / Abeyta relatives

I am looking for anyone with information regarding Juana de Vaca (Baca?) and her descendents. She was born in the 1800's. The story goes that she came to New Mexico from Spain with her parents and her daughter. They homesteaded in Salem, New Mexico. Juana was either widowed or was never married. Her daughter's name was Lorenza. She married Luis Torres. Lorenza and Luis are my great-grandparents. They had several children. There son Juan was my grandfather. The greatest mystery for this family is the story that Luis Torres and siblings were raised by a Torres family and so took their name. However, as the story goes, their surname was really Abeyta. Their parents were killed in an Indian raid. No one in the family seems to know anymore about the "Abeyta Connection" than what I have just stated. If anyone out there knows anything about this and can pass on any information regarding the Abeyta family that we are supposedly related to, I would greatly appreciate it.
