I am from Atenguillo - San Pablo to be more precise - My Paternal Grandfather was Abraham Curiel, he died when my dad was a young boy around the 1920's. My Maternal Grandfather was Mariano Topete very well Known in our small town, he passed away just a few years back, he was over 95 years old.
Curiel and Topete are very common names in that area. If you live in Guadalajara, I suggest making the 2 hour drive and visit the presidencia, they have birth records dating way back. Hope this helps.
