Hi,
Joab S. Toombs, was a grandparent of mine. From the information I have his wife was Catherine Perry. Family legend has it that this Perry family was somehow related to Oliver Hazard Perry. I have not been able to verify this. Catherine was down as being born in 1812-or 1810. She died in Crozet Virginia, and is buried in the family plot.
I did not do this research, (a great Aunt did)Joab was born in Spottsylvania County. I have him being born in 1814, or 1812, but this does not jive with the census records.
He was married in 1835, and died in 1882. He died in Crozet Virginia. I have it written that..."flamily plot, Buck's Elbow Mountain. And account book shows that he operated a business in 1882. R.A. Toombs (also a grandfather of mine) was listed as the administrator in 1883.
I have quite a bit on Ryland Allen Toombs.
Hope that helps!
Mary
