Tranum-Toombs connection c.1785(?) Virginia
I am searching for information that might confirm a connection of my gggg grandmother Frances Tranum (b.4/10/1789 VA, d.3/21/1838 Line Creek, AL) to the Toombs family. Her grandaughter wrote in a Civil War diary, "Fannie Tranum's mother was a Toombs, related to Senator Toombs of Georgia."One of her 3 brothers was named Toombs Tranum, and she also had 1 sister.
There is only limited information on the Toombs family, and this forum seems to be the best resource. She might possibly be connected through a sibling of Gabriel Toombs (b.abt1750 Caroline, VA, d.1799 Wilkes Co, GA), who I have listed as Robert Augustus Toombs, Sr.'s father.Could anyone please help with more information?
