Sandra,
I'm a little late here,(6 Years), but if you are still searching for info on David Toole, I can provide some which may be of help. I am a direct descendent of David and Maria. My name is Lindon Toole I was born in Cooma NSW and now live in Sydney. My father,John Toole was raised in the Goldspie area near Laggan and Crookwell. I had a surge of interest in family history some 3-4 years ago and came across an online family tree established by a Michael Toole of Canberra with whom I made contact at the time. Some turmoil in my life since has meant moving house twice and the web site and email addresses sadly were lost. The family tree was awesome - I spent many hours trawling over it. I am hoping to relocate the lost particulars and will forward them if successful. Indeed, some of our relatives' liaisons, ie Toole/Croker were closer then perhaps they should have been.
What I can recall is that David worked on John MacArthur's farm at Camden NSW before taking up his farm at Irishtown,(now Kempton), near Crookwell. He was quite religious and hosted church services at his house- Church of England, I believe -in a time when it mattered. David and Maria sailed from Liverpool aboard the ship "Adam Lodge" and they had a child born on the journey, Ann Jane. If this is of interest and you wish to make contact I would be happy for you to do so. Also of interest is that your surname seems Scandinavian, My mother's maiden name was Gottaas -of Norwegian descent.
