Tong Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Valerie,
Thanks for your message. I fully understand. Although I'd like to find more on my Stephen Tong, realise that there were several Tong families in that part of Kent. Stephen Tong had two brothers:- Mark(1762), possibly died Chilham in 1788, Cepas (1773) and buried 1784 Chilham so probably no descendants from Mark. I found another James Tong baptised 13.6.1756 at Crundle whose father was Richard so feel he too could be a brother. Haven't proved without doubt that our Stephen Tong died aged 82 at the Union Workhouse, Faversham on 31.01.1850. He could be our Stephen although dates 'out' by a few years. Mistakes can be made. However, I've found several Stephen Tongs living in Kent around that time, which is confusing! I believe that my Stephen's son, also Stephen b. 1800 at Sturry died at Woodchurch on 19.11.1880 - retired farmer. I'd like to be able to work further back to John Tong and Sarah but that is going to be very difficult. Not easy from Down Under either! Thanks for your interest.
Cheers,
Roslyn
