Thanks for the marriage date for John TONEY and LucyFARRIS. I did not have that.
If you can find it, I would like your source on Alexander's name being in fact John Alexander. I had long thought that this might be the case.
The only information I have on Alexander (m. Lucinda Hogue) shows that he was born in Indiana (Census records before the Civil War) and Alabama (Census records taken after the Civil War.) He was living in an area where it was not popular or "politically correct" to be a "Yankee." We just thought that he changed his birthplace to suit his circumstances - which would have been easy to do in those times of little documentation.
I have been to the Dallas County courthouse and read the original record of the marriage between John Alexander and Lucinda. In this record, his name is given only as Alexander.
