Dear Steven
I am not sure if this information will be helpful to you but there are many similarities so here goes.I am the grandaughter of James John Toms born in 1880 in Ontario - Cambellford or Campbellcroft, I think. He had eight brothers!!!His parents were Henry and Emily Toms who came from England to Canada in 1874 (it could have been '73, I suppose).I have one of the plates Emily brought with her. They came with Henry's parents (I think their names were William and Mary Ellen - born Ford) and all siblings but one who remained behind in England. My grandpa and at least one of the brothers (Jesse, I think) moved to Saskatchewan in the first years of the c20th.Two of the brothers died in 1898. My grandpa became a manager with the Wheat Pool in Rosetown and in Wilkie and I'm sure my great uncle had a farm.My grandpa retired to Vancouver in 1945 and died here in 1965.My father was George Franklin (after a paternal uncle)Toms, born in Rosetown Saskatchewan in 1919 and died in Vancouver in 1973.My mum has more information written down by my father's brother (James Toms, a civil engineer, of Toronto) who made a bit of an effort to get family background material organized before he died a few years ago.The info. goes back to 1790 in England and includes some amazingly long-lived ancestors.Hope this is not a wild goose chase and is of some help.
Regards
Marcy Toms
