Saw your post regarding Isaac Tompkins going to Texas.Researchers of this Isaac seem to believe that he is the son of Isaac and Joanna Tompkins as found on the 1850 Round Grove, Marion Co. MO census. And he very well might prove to be. They all seem to have vanished from Missouri about 1870.It was always believed (stories from Gr.Grandmother) that Isaac and Nancy Jones Tompkins both died and children were raised by their grandparents, Isaac W. and Sarah McGee Jones.Their raising is definetly true.Goodspeeds bio states that "Nancy is deceased wife of Dr. Isaac Tompkins"So, maybe he didn't die and maybe he is the one gone to Texas? He sure didn't take the kids with him though! Then I have the issue of when I do find him in the 1860 Knox Co. MO census, he is a wagon maker. Was the Isaac in Texas a doctor?I guess it's possible he went from 1860 to 1880's to become a doctor. Mine Is Isaac J. and I seemed to remember the one in Texas was Isaac B? Somewhere along the research line I found a Dr. Junius Tompkins, but have yet to tie him to my Isaac.I would begin to question if I have the first name correct, but my mother said that her granny always said his name was Isaac J. (that is what is on her death certificate) and one of her brothers was named Isaac and another had middle initial as "J".ANY help greatly appreciated.
