I have records of two Daniel D. Tompkinses who were born about that time and served in the Civil War. One was 27 years old. He enlisted on 21 Aug 1862 in Bridgeville, NY and was assigned on 08 Oct 1862 to Company E of the NY 143 Regiment. He mustered out on 18 Mar 1863 according to the US Civil War Soldier's Records and Profiles database. The American Civil War Soldiers database says he received a diability discharge. This happened in Philadelphia, PA.

The other record is for Daniel D. aged 25. He enlisted on 13 Oct 1861 as a Private in Annsville, NY. He was assigned to 26 Oct 1861 to Company A NY 87th Infantry. He mustered out 12 Jun 1862 at Catlett's State, Virginia. This info comes from the report of the Adjutant General in the US Civil War Soldiers Records and Profiles database.

Hope this helps!!!!
