Hi Suzie,
I am a great grandson on James B. Tompkins (husband of Mary Edna Harmon), so we are related. My grandfather was Harold Frederick Tompkins. I don't have an answer to you question on why Mary E. moved to Oakland, my mother always wondered why also. I am a collector of family pictures and have a digital copy of Mary Edna Harmon. I am always looking to add to my family collection. If you have any to share, I would be most appreciative. My mother, who is still alive, is a granddaughter of Mary Edna and loves talking about her family.
