Quaker Tompkins in Morris CO, NJ Raises Case Orphan
Isaiah Case was born 19 Jan 1759 in Morris Co, NJ, and died 8 Jan 1850 in Green, Wayne, IN.
He was orphaned in Morris CO, NJ and subsequently raised by a Quaker named Tompkins, as far as I know.
He descends from the Case clan than came to NJ from Southold, Suffolk, NY. Case, Parr and Corwin family members intermarried on Long Island, having descended from the Puritan era families of the same names.
I need help from other Case Family Researchers. Who were Isaiah Cases's biological parents? There were several Case families in Morris CO, NJ at that time. Which Tompkins family?
My best guess is that some of the Parr, Corwin and Case families (among others) left NY for NJ to join the growing Quaker (or religious variation) community that offered them much greater freedom to express their values and ideals.
As a point of reference, Isaiah Case was my third great grandfather.
Appreciate any help - the smallest clue can sometimes be very rewarding.
