Tompkins Family Genealogy Forum
Glad you have had some success. As others have warned me, however, you have to be very careful about the accuracy of the documentation in some of these sources. Scott Tompkins, who often writes in to this board, has an excellent account of the Tompkins family - 400 pages long. Fascinating. I'm sure you would find that he had some useful information for you too. My branch goes from the original John, through 3 Nathaniels to Stephen b. 1741 and from there to my ggg grandfather Nathaniel who married Content (Tenty) Conniff and lived in Norway, NY up near the Adirondacks. My grandfather was a law professor at NYU and my mother moved to Canada in the 1930s.
Also, lots of reallly interesting stuff about the first John and the ancestors in England are submitted to this site by Matt Tompkins. All really worth hunting down and reading. Good luck with your searches. Mary
