My hobby is researching the genealogy/family history of TOMES families & I might be able to help a bit. I live in Somerset (County) in South West England.
I have a pedigree on a quaker TOMES family, of North Carolina that I compiled 11 years ago. However it does include the following:
- Francis TOMS/TOMES, born about ?1640, probably emigrated to the USA from England & was in Charles Town, VA, in 1656 & then probably moved to Perquiimans CO, NC. His first wife (of 3) was Priscilla NICHOLSON.
- Their second child was Mary (born 27 Apr 1670). She married Gabrial NEWBY on 1 Apr 1689 & they had at least one child, a son Francis.
- Their third child (1st son) was Francis (born 19 Jul 1672, a lawyer & chancery judge in Albemarle Co). He married, 1st, Margaret BOGUE on 8 Jun 1696 and they had 4 childred. The eldest was Mary (b 20 ? 1697) who married Nathan NEWBY on 1 Aug 1720. He died 3 Feb 1735. They had at least one child, a son, also Francis.
- This Francis (ie the one b 19 Jul 1672) married, 2nd, Rebecca ?SIMMONS (b 9 Aug 1680)& they had 3 children. The eldest was also Francis who married Rebecca NIXON. Francis & Rebecca had 5 children, the 3rd being Mary (b 8 Jan 1746) who married Joseph McADAMS on 7 Jun 1769) but I don't know if they had any children.
I can't find anything on a Mary who married a John MACE.
