I believe that your "Ella" is the daughter of Reuben Tolliver and Martha E.(last name unknown).2 year old Mary E. appears in the 1860 Logan Township, Fountain Co. Indiana Census with her father Reuben and his wife Martha with the name spelled with one "l".Martha and Reuben were divorced Oct 21 1864 according to his pension application file. She's probably the Martha E. Tolliver who married John W. Shepherd on the 22nd of Oct 1864 in Tippecanoe Cnty.Reuben's next two wives were also named Martha and he had more children with his 4th wife Louisa Waters (they married in 1879 in Kansas), including my grandmother Stella Tolliver born in 1888.
When I began my genealogy research, my father who is 91 told me that he remembered being shown a picture of an Earl Holliday by his mother. He was told that Earl was her nephew. The odd fact that his mother, Earl's aunt was younger than her nephew was why he remembered.
I have much more information on Reuben and the family including his brothers Archibald and George W. that I can share.
