I don't know who this Robert Toler was. He was in Crawford County in the 1830 census. He was an Elder in the Ariel Primitive Baptist Church of Crawford County in 1837. He was a member of the Little Union Primitive Baptist Church in Crawford County in 1827 and 1829, along with a Mary Toler (his wife?) There was a Robert Toler listed as a member of the Presbytery of Old Mount Paran Church in Chattahoochee County, GA in 1837 -- same Robert? There was a Robert Toler who was a "Messenger" from Mount Carmel Church in 1837 (Muscogee County). A Robert Toler was listed as a member of the Ephesus Church in Talbot County in 1839, and who was in the 1840 census of that county.
A Robert Toler married Mary Barnes in Twiggs County, GA on Nov. 11, 1824. He was a son of another Robert Toler.
I have not been able to connect Robert with either Dempsey or Lewis Toler, the two men I am most interested in as possible ancestors. What seems clear is that at least one Robert Toler was a Baptist clergyman, and that he was a very busy man. Did the Baptists have Circuit Rider preachers? (I know the Methodists did.)
Thank you for the information on Balaam Brooks. I never thought to question his placement as one of Micajah's brothers, but I see what you mean about the dates. I haven't done much research on the Brooks line recently.
Sorry I can't provide any more clarification for you about Robert Toler.
