I assume that you have heard about our ancestors, Martin Tofflemire and his family,being captured by the Indians and British at Ruddles Fort during the revolutionary war. Most of our branch have heard at least rumors concwening this.
They lived on Grosse Ile for about ten years, paying off the ramsom to the Indians. And then obtained land grants in Ontario.
