Hampshire Record entries designated the "Tod" spelling, which probably means that this William's family possibly migrated from Scotland or Ireland to England. This was the only Tod/Todd family in the area of Eling in the 1600's. (William Tod name found on the baptismal record for Joseph and Benjamin Todd, per Ran Rader.) Other sources list his name as John Todd (Darla McDonald). It should be noted that the name of William does not appear among known grandchildren (children of John), which was and still is quite common among the Todd family. This confusion may make it impossible to determine which Todd lines to go through from here. The Todd lines of Denton Parish, County Durham (William "Gulialmus" Todd) may be tied in here, or possibly the lines in Yorkshire (Reginal Todd). There is not enough data to go beyond this at this time.

Rhian Watkins, Hampshire Record Office: Subject: Eling. Kelly's Directory of 1939 states that, "Eling is a parish and village near the head of Southampton Water, on the western side, one mile south from Totton, 5 west from Southampton, 6 south from Romsey and 86 from London, in the New Forest and Christchurch division of the county. The old ecclesiasical parish of Eling was divided into six parishes; Eling, North Eling or Copythorne, Netley Marsh, Marchwood, Colbury and Testwood. Eling parish now only contains the village of Eling and the portion of Totton not contained in Testwood. The parish registers date from 1538. The County of Southampton was renamed Hampshire in the 1950s.

10. Joseph Todd, baptism 15 January 1645 at Eling Parish, Southamptonshire, England, d. 20 August 1699 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
| Will |
There are two entries in the Eling Parish register for Benjamin and Joseph Todd on 15 January 1645, sons of William Tod. It can be safely assumed that Joseph and Benjamin were twins. Supposedly, Joseph Todd went to Philadelphia soon after it was started by William Penn in 1682. "He stated in papers in the records of the First Baptist Church that he became a Baptist in 1689 in Lymington in Southampton," says Betty Silfies, a descendant in Philadelphia, PA.
From the book Todd Family of Eling, Southamptonshire, England, Philadelphia and Buck Counties Pennsylvania and Rowan County North Carolina, Madison County Kentucky, Butler and Howard County Missouri and others: "The earliest member of the TODD FAMILY found in Pennsylvania, whom we shall term the founder of the Todds there, was one JOSEPH TODD, Senior, who by his will dated 2nd March 1698, styles himself as being of "ELING, SOUTHAMPTONSHIRE, ENGLAND," being his former place of residence prior to coming to Pennsylvania, and most likely the place of birth. His will was probated in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, 31st August 1700, being a resident of that place at the time of his death, it is evident that he was living in Pennsylvania at the time he wrote the will by the naming of John Swift and Peter Chamberlayne, among others, residents of Pennsylvania to be Overseers of his will. The said Joseph Todd bequeathed to his eldest son and heir Joseph Todd the sum of forty pounds as soon as he attained the age 21 years, he being a son by former marriage; as he further specifies that "all the children which I now have by my last wife, JOANE, twenty pounds apiece, that is to say twenty pounds unto JOSHUA, twenty pounds unto CALEB, twenty pounds unto THOMAS, twenty pounds unto ELIZABETH, and twenty pounds unto MARY." To David Todd, son of his brother Daniel Todd and James and Polly Bradshaw the children of his sister Elizabeth he gave five pounds each." He appointed John Swift, Sr. John Swift, Jr., Henry Abbott, and Peter Chamberlayne to be Overseers of his will. Witnesses were Richard Chandler and Andrew Worsom. The administration of the estate of Joseph Todd was granted to Joseph Todd, eldest son and heir. Joanne had died before the will was probated on 31 August 1700.

From Notes and Queries Historical, Biographical and Genealogical Relating Chiefly to Interior Pennsylvania. Annual Volume, 1897, pg. 224: "Alexander Edwards settled in Radnor. He and his family were Quakers. There at the home of David Price, Oct. 20, 1692, his daughter Bridget was married to Griffith Miles (brother to Richard Miles), born in Wales in 1670, emigrated to America about 1683. Another daughter, Jane was married to James James, at the same house, one month later, Nov. 17, 1692. His daughter MARTHA was married about the same time to JOSEPH TODD. These daughters with their husbands became Baptists after the Reithian Schism, Joseph Todd being one of the deputies that met at the house of Richard Miles, June 22, 1706, to compromise matters of dispute among the Baptists."

Dear Mr Connelly,
Thank you for your message. Kelly's Directory of 1939 states that, 'Eling is a parish and village near the head of Southampton Water, on the western side, one mile south from Totton, 5 west from Southampton, 6 south from Romsey and 86 from London, in the New Forest and Christchurch division of the county......
The old ecclesiasical parish of Eling was divided into six parishes, Eling, North Eling or Copythorne, Netley Marsh, Marchwood, Colbury and Testwood.
Eling parish now only contains the village of Eling and the portion of Totton not con tained in Testwood.......The parish registers date from 1538.' You may also like to know that the County of Southampton was renamed Hampshire in the 1950s.
I hope the above has been of some assistance.
Yours sincerely,
Miss R S Watkins (Archives Assistant)

The Todd Family
The most important family connection with the Thorntons for more than 170 years was the Todd family. Both the Thornton and Todd families were living in the western part of North Carolina in the last part of the eighteenth century. It is not known if they met with the Thornton family while the Todds lived in Rowan County 60 miles away, but future meetings would create some very close bonds.
****The Todds had been in the United States for at least 100 years earlier. The earliest Todd found is John who was born around 1619 in Eling, Southamptonshire, England and married Elizabeth Mallory. His son Joseph migrated to Pennsylvania in late seventeenth century and died there in 1699. The direct line progressed through Joseph Jr., Joshua, and John, born about 1705. John must have moved to Easton, Northampton County Pa in the early eighteenth century, where his son Benjamin was born in 1725.
Benjamin and his wife Sarah Griffin were married in 1750 and had nine children, all born in Easton, PA between 1752 and 1764. Sarah could trace her line back to her great grandfather, William Buckman, who emigrated from England with William Penn on the ship “Welcome” in 1682. They migrated to Rowan County, North Carolina, where Benjamin and sons Caleb and Peter are on the 1772 tax roll. At the time they settled in North Carolina, Rowan County extended into western NC to the edge of Burke County.
When the Revolutionary War started four of the Todd boys participated. Peter served in Captain Robert Moore’s North Carolina militia on an exhibition against Cherokee Indians. Joseph was a private in the militia in 1772. Benjamin Jr. served 8 months in 1777 with Captain Davis’ Company as a private in the militia. Thomas volunteered for 14 months in Captain David Cowan’s NC militia. Close to the end of the Revolutionary War in 1781 Thomas served as a substitute for his brother Benjamin. He spent two more months as a private in Captain James Straig’s Company of Light horse under Col. Davis in the NC Troops.
Peter Todd is the direct connection with the Thornton family. In 1779, following his service in the War, he married Hannah Cornelison who was born in Loudoun County, Virginia. Peter was a wealthy landowner, with 150 acres on the south side of Lick Creek and 400 acres on the Abbott’s Creek, in a section of Rowan County that later became Davidson County. It was too far from Burke and Wilkes County for the Todds to be considered neighbors of the Thornton and Owen families.
While Peter and Hannah Todd lived in Rowan County, they had 8 children between 1780 and 1795: Aaron in 1784, Mary “Polly” in 1786, Griffin in 1788, William in 1789, Anna in 1790, Jesse in 1792, Sally “Sallie” [our connection] in 1793, Jeremiah in 1795, Hannah in 1798, and Spicey, 1800. Even with all this activity in having children, the Todd family was preparing to move to Kentucky.
(next page)
Migration to Kentucky
The first of the families to move to Kentucky was the Owen family. On September 12, 1793, Barnett and Frances sold 115 of their remaining acreage in Lunenburg and on December 14, 1798, sold 100 acres in Wilkes County. This sale of land continued as the Owen families prepare for their move to Kentucky in the early 1790s. Barnett and family were already in Madison County, KY in time to be listed in the 1795 census. Barnett’s brother William was listed in the neighboring county, Clark, in the same census.
There are records of marriages of 10 the Owen children in Madison County, Kentucky from 1795 through 1813. The marriages for the first three- Sally, Frances, and Jemima- were in 1795 and 1796. Because their marriages were recorded right after they arrived in Kentucky, the young men were probably part of the migrating families from North Carolina. If not, the girls were quick to marry newly found Kentucky boys.
The Todd families were also ready to migrate to Kentucky. On March 19, 1796, Benjamin Todd sold 525 acres of land in Rowan County. Records of sale of Peter’s land have not been found, but the Todd families migrated to Kentucky sometime between 1796 and 1799. By 1800 Peter and his family were listed in the Madison County, KY census.
It is not known if the Todd families knew members of the Owen family or the Thornton family before the migration. The Todd families lived about 60 miles from the Thornton family in Burke and the Owen family in Wilkes but they could have accidentally met each other as they passed through the counties toward Kentucky just before the end of the century. Instead of joining them, William and Patsy would stay in North Carolina a little longer. William was listed as overseeing the road from Silver Creek to the bridge on Gunpowder Creek in Burke County in January 1797. William was still in Burke County when the 1800 census was taken.
The Todd and Owen families settled in Madison County, Kentucky, where they are listed in the 1800 and 1810 census records. William Thornton is not listed in Madison County but in Clark County, just across the Kentucky River that forms the northern boundary of Madison County. The Thornton family must have lived close to access across the Kentucky River because all marriage for the family are recorded in Madison County.
...Willi Thornton to Sally “Sallie” Todd. When they were married on December 9, 1813, Willi was 21 and Sallie 20. The same day they were married, Sallie’s brother, William Todd, married Elizabeth Owen, Patsy (Owen) Thornton’s youngest sister. Elizabeth was 25 years younger than her sister Patsy.
...Peter Todd’s father, Benjamin Sr., died in Madison County earlier in 1810. When Peter’s son and daughter left Kentucky, Peter was 60 years old and remained there until his death in 1841.
...James Thornton, Willi’s youngest son, and Sarah had 9 children while they lived in Callaway Country. One son, Levi, was born in 1828 and died 20 years later from fighting in the Mexican War in 1846 through 1848. One of their daughters, Nancy Jane, would later marry into the Todd family.
William Thornton and Sallie Todd
Willi Thornton’s second child was William Todd, born April 5, 1817. His first name continued the family tradition of passing the father’s name on to the oldest son. William’s middle name, Todd, was in honor of his mother’s family name. It was also prophetic because 20 years later he would marry one of Uncle Jesse Todd’s daughters.
Sallie [Todd] Thornton’s older brother Jesse Todd grew up with the Thorntons in Kentucky and traveled with them to Missouri. Jesse Todd also grew up with Lucy Isabell Dalton whom he married in Madison County and had 8 children. Jesse became a preacher in the Primitive Baptist religion, served churches in Callaway and DeKalb Counties and officiated at several of the families’ weddings. His children and those of his sister, Sallie [Todd] Thornton, had a close affection for each other.
The connections with the Thornton and Todd families became very complicated with an aunt becoming sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews became son or daughter-in-laws. This arrangement was not that unusual at that time. In the early history of the settlements, marriage occurred very frequently among kin.
William Todd Thornton was the first of three Thornton brothers to marry their first cousins in the Todd family. In 1837 he married Hannah Todd and year later they would have the first of their 15 children.
...
In 1839, William Todd Thornton and Hannah, and their year-old daughter, Sarah Isabel, were the first of the Thorntons to settle in the area. William Todd came with his uncle Wm. Adams, and his sister Cordilia [Thornton] Agee and her husband Isaac Agee. With this group were Elder Jesse Todd and his family.

Back in Missouri, in 1843 Willi Thornton's fourth son, John, married his first cousin, Sally Todd, another one of Elder Jesse Todd's daughters. John was 17 years older than his 16-year-old wife. They were married on the same day as Elder Jesse Todd's son, William Todd, married Nancy Jane Thornton, daughter of Elder James Thornton. Artie reports that because the two marriages in the Todd and Thornton families were held on the same day there was little material aid from the two parents.
John and Sally Thornton had 10 children between 1845 and 1871. In 1854, Luke Thornton, Willi's sixth son, would marry another of Elder Jesse Todd's daughters, cousin Cyrenia. They had five children. For many years, at least until the 1980s, there would be an annual Todd / Thornton family reunion in Maysville to celebrate the closeness of the two families.
In DeKalb County, Jesse Todd and John Evans organized a Baptist church in 1842 that was of the Primitive or "old school" Baptist faith. Religion for the backcountry families was mostly part of small Protestant sects who were converted to more evangelical forms of Christianity by Methodist and Baptist missionaries. Luke Thornton donated the land in Clarksdale for the first meetinghouse, named the Bethlehem Church.
Congregations in the Primitive Baptist Church were often composed of extended family members. The original 20 members included primarily the DeShazer, Adams, Thornton, and Todd families. It was the church of choice for most of the Thornton families.
Elder Jesse Todd was the first resident minister of the church and of DeKalb County. In the History of DeKalb County it say Elder Todd was "unlearned in the subtleties of scholastic divinity, [he] preached with a fervor that influenced many of the early pioneers to abandon the careless life so prevalent upon the frontier, and identify themselves with the church…"

Subject: Joseph Tudor Todd's three marriages?
Date: Thu, 19 Aug 1999 17:49:13 EDT
This problem is actually corollary to whether or not Joseph of Bermuda is truly the same as Joseph of Pennsylvannia.
Records of Bermuda substantiate the marriage of Joseph Todd to Ann Tatum (the
Tatums are one of the first families of Bermuda, having been on the islands since the first settlement). Tatum researchers maintain (quite strongly) that Ann Tatum is the mother of the son Joseph who later migrated on to America.
The will of Joseph Todd was written, at earliest, after the birth of his daughter Mary (by Joanne Swift). If his eldest son was the son born in 1668 with his Joseph Tudor Todd's first wife Ann Tatum, then said son had to be at least 27 years old at the time the will was written. The elder Joseph goes into some detail providing for his son Joseph "as soon as he shall come to and attain the age of one and twenty years". Why would he even make such a statement if he was making the bequest to a young man who was already past 21? Could it be possible that none of his children with his first wife survived, and he was making provision for a son from his second marriage to Ann Worsham? (The Worsham marriage is verified by Eling records in England.)
If he did marry Anne Worsham in 1675 and Joanne Swift in 1681 (and wrote the will in 1698) he could very well have had a child with the second Ann between 1678 and 1680 that would have yet to arrive at 21 at the time the will was written. However -- as mentioned above, Tatum researchers are certain that Joseph Jr was the son of Ann Tatum.
Offering some small evidence of a possible connection between Joseph Tudor
Todd and Joseph of PA is the following:

The names John Swift and Peter Chamberlain may relate directly to Joseph Todd. John Swift and Matthew Chamberlynd were named in Joseph Todd's will. Joseph Tudor Todd of Bermuda was first married to Ann Tatum, perhaps related to John Tathum?
Today Bensalem is a community on the edge of the Philadelphia metro area, approx one and an half miles east of the Northeast Philadelphia Airport, just off interstate 95, and just a few miles from the community of Easton in Northampton Co PA, where Benjamin Todd is said to have been born.
I think it entirely more likely that the two Josephs are different men -- perhaps cousins, that Joseph of PA did not leave Eling until after his marriage to Anne Worsham in 1675, that Anne Worsham was probably his first wife, and that examination of the records of ship lists for the period 1676 through 1698 will render more evidence of this.

Joseph Todd /SS/
The Joseph Todd of Pennsylvannia may not, in fact, be the same man as the Joseph Tudor Todd of Bermuda. The brother Daniel he names in his will is not mentioned in the will of Joseph Tudor Todd's father John written in Bermuda in 1678. His sister's Bradshaw children had not yet reached the age of 21 when the will was written in 1699. Twenty one years earlier, when John Todd's will was written, his daughter Elizabeth had children and was married to a Weathersbie. While it is possible that her earlier children had died and she had another family afterward, it seems unlikely if she was the same Elizabeth Todd who was born about 1631, as she would have been 48 years old the year after her father's will was written.
Joseph Todd of PA does state his nativity as Eling in Southampton, which is purported to be the same origin as John Todd (I have not seen primary evidence for this, however). Eling was a very small place in the 1600s, and these two men could be related, but I have to conclude that they are not father and son -- that Joseph of Pennsylvannia and Joseph Tudor Todd of Bermuda are more likely some degree of cousin (if the John Todd - Eling connection proves out) rather than the same man.

In following some old notes of my gr. gr.uncle Claude Todd, I am led to believe that my ancestor Joseph Tudor Todd was tied to the family of Tudor's going back to Owen Tudor. All of his siblings also bore the Tudor name as a second name. While I have several leads, I have not been able to get a positive link on these lines. This line of Todd's later married into the Clopton's of which many Tudor descendants also trace, inlcluding the current house of Windsor. Any data would be greatly appreciated.

Todd family also has its war record. There were Lieut. Levi and his brother, Col. John, good and brave soldiers. Levi was the father of Robert, the father of Mrs. Abraham Lincoln.
All the Todds have originally come from Scotland; but they have come by different roads, and some of them have been a long time on the way. For centuries, driven by persecution or lured by the hope of advantage, they have been with their fellow-countrymen, descending into England, or crossing the straits into the North of Ireland.
For three or four hundred years the parish registers in all the counties of England have contained many records of Todds. An ancient Yorkshire register records the marriage of Richard Tod and Mary Wod. This is poetic and beautiful. In such a family it must have been natural for the boys, when first learning to walk, to toddle, and for the girls, when old and fat, to waddle.
With the practical union of Scotland and England under James I, the mutual political prejudices of the two countries began to abate. With the reformation in England and later the spread of independency and Presbyterianism their religious prejudices also disappeared. And the Scotch in England were mingled everywhere with the English. Consequently the two peoples became thoroughly amalgamated. The Todds in England have long since become thoroughly English and have lost the last trace of their Scottish heredity. With the Scotch in Ireland, or the Scotch-Irish as they are commonly but improperly called, the case is very different. There the Scotch have been segregated from the Irish, in a few Northern Counties; they have been strong advocates of William of Orange, and the protestant succession, while the Irish have been loyal to the Stuarts, so long as there were any to be loyal to, and since that to home-rule, or anything rather than the established government, and the Irish have been bigoted Roman Catholics, while the Scotch have been not less bigoted Presbyterians. From all this has developed a fierce antagonism, which has kept the races apart, and has manifested itself wherever even in foreign countries, Orangemen and Irishmen have "foregathered." These Todds, therefore, have no Irish blood, but are as purely Scotch as the people of Scotland itself.
Of the nine distinct and so far as known wholly unconnected families of Todds in this country, three have come from Scotland direct, namely, the New York Todds, the Suffield, Connecticut Tods and (probably) the Philadelphia Tods; three have come from the North of Ireland, Viz., the Maryland Todds, the New Hampshire Todds, and the Pennsylvania Todds; and three have come from England, Viz., the Massachusetts Todds, the New Haven, Connecticut Todds and the Virginia Todds. Of these last three, the first two came from the republican or Puritan party, and the third from the royalist or Church of England party. Of all the Todds in this country the Virginians were at first highest in social rank.
The arms of the Todds, or of such as were authorized to bear them were, with trifling variations, three fox heads in red, in a shield, with a fox sitting, or running away with a goose, for a crest, and the motto, "Opertet Vivere"--"One must live" (even if he has to steal for it.)
It must be admitted that the Todds have been better than their motto; but it is not pretended that the Todds in this country have any right, or wish, to make use of these "childish things," which the manhood of the world has put away.
With a single exception the Todds have all come from the Highlands of Scotland.
The original name of the Irish Todds was O'Shauagh, which is Irish for fox. In consequence of an early English Parliment, which compelled the Irish to assume English names, the family changed its name, the Leinster branch taking the name Fox and the northern, Todd, or Wolfson, corrupted into Wilson. It appears from this that a portion of the Irish Todds are of Irish origin. All other Todds are Scotch.
They have come to this country by three different channels, First there are the Scotch Todds, who have come directly from Scotland.
***Next there are the Irish Todds, a part of whom came originally from Scotland. In the early part of the last century Robert Todd came from County Antrim, and settled on wild lands in the interior of Pennsylvania, whence his descendants spread into New Jersey, Carolina, Georgia and Kentucky.
It was into a branch of this Irish stock that President Abraham Lincoln married, Mrs. Lincoln being the great-granddaughter of Robert Todd, who was a native of Pennsylvania and a general in the Revolutionary Army.
Robert and Andrew Todd came over first from Ireland. Robert the Grandfather or Great-grandfather of Mary Todd, afterward Mrs. Lincoln, settled in Pennsylvania and Andrew at Todds Point below Cambridge, Md. Michael Todd and Levin Todd came over a few years later and settled near Andrew. Hugh Todd may have been their father. Their grandfather's name was John Todd.
James Todd and his wife were born in Scotland, but emigrated to the North of Ireland where all their children were born. These children were Alexander, Samuel, Elizabeth, and Andrew. Alexander and Samuel were both of them graduates of the university of Edinburgh. Samuel was never married. The others were all married in Ireland. James the husband and father died in Ireland. In 1720 his widow and all her children and children-in-law arrived in Londonderry, N. H., and settled there. The youngest son, Andrew distinguished himself in the French wars of 1744 and 1755, in which he served as Colonel of the provincial forces, and was one of the marked men of the time. The descendants of this family seem to have confined themselves for the most part to the region in which they first settled.
Lastly there are the English Todds, who have come to this country by way of England, where they have been known at least, so far back as the eleventh century. Upon their entrance into England some of the Todds seem to have retained their Scotch name, while others exchanged it for its English equivalent.
Hence the Todds and the Foxes belong to the same stock, and have always borne the same arms. The Todds seem to have settled first in Yorkshire where the name is common to this day.
There was a John Todde, who was high sheriff of York in 1390; and also Sir William Tod, who was high sheriff in 1477, and Lord mayor ten years later. Till within comparatively recent times there was two inscriptions in preservation on the walls of York, which the antiquary Leland thus describes--
"Under a piece of indifferent sculpture of a senator in his robes and a woman kneeling by him, 'A. Dom. M. CCCC. L.XXXVII. Sir William Tod mair jou-ates some tyme was schyriffe did this cost himself.' Near this on a table under the city's arks, is--"A Domini M. CCCC. L. XXXVII. Sir William Tod, Knight L.(???) Mayre this wal was mayde in his dayes Lx yerds."
Among the more eminent of the Yorkshire Todds was Rev. Robert Todd, a dissenting minister of Leeds. Among other notices of him it is chronicled that during the Great Plague "he preached repeatedly and impressively on Hezekiah's boil."
There was also a Sir William Todd, who was High Sheriff of York under Charles I, in 1625.

Notes for Levi Todd:
From "Historic Families of Kentucky' p. 212-13
"Levi, third son of David Todd and Hannah Owen, was born in Pennsylvania in 1756; was educated with his elder brothers in Virginia, with them studied law, became a surveyor, came early to Kentucky, and at first seems to have been one of the
defenders of the fort at Harrodsburg: afterward he assisted Logan to hold St. Asasphs. he was stationed at St. Asaphs when he married Jane or Betsey Briggs. Afterward, he fortified Todd's Station, in Jessamine, whence he removed to Lexington,
where he was a purchaser of the first sale of lots in 1781. He was clerk of the first court of quarter sessions held in Harrodsburg, in the spring of 1777--- was a member of both Danville conventions of 1785, and of that of 1787. When Fayette
county was formed, he was appointed its first clerk, and held the office until his death in 1807. He was lieutenant under George Rogers Clarke in the successful expedition against Kaskaskia and Vincennes; and with Logan in the attack upon the
Indian town when Bowman's panic thwarted the well-concerted plan; was major of Lorgan's Lincoln county regiment and participated in two other expeditions agains tthe Indians of Ohio and Indiana; and was major in the hottest of the fight at Blue
Licks, where his gallant and gifted brother fell. Afterward, he became a brigadier and then a major-general. Those miliyary titles were won by actual service; his reputation was secured by real and hard fighting. a solid, substantial,
enterprising citizen; a sensible, intelligent, well-educated man; a consistent Presbyterian; a valuable and faithful public servant; a good soldier; --of course he was respected at a time when those qualitites were most useful and honored.
General Levi Todd and Jane or Betsey Briggs were parents of eleven Children.

From "Historic Families of Kentucky" by Thomas Marshall Green:
"David Todd, second son of Robert, the emigrant--was born in Ireland, April 8, 1723; when a child, was brought by his father to Pennsylvania; lived there as a farmer, in the Providence township of Montgomery county until 1783, when he came to
Kentucky. His sons--John, Robert, and Levi-- had proceded him to Kentucky and John had already been killed at the Blue Licks. his youngest son, Owen Todd (who settled in Ohio), and his daughter, Hannah (who married Elijah Smith), came with
him. So, too came his brother-in-law, James Parker, and his sister Mary. David Todd died in Fayette county, Febuary 9, 1785. His wife, who he married in Pennsylvania, was Hannah Owen, of Welsh descent and a Quakeress. They had four sons
and two daughters- John, Robert, Levi, Owen, Elizabeth and Hannah."

I am looking for information on Benjamin Todd. He was born in Rowan Co., NC on January 7, 1781. He married Alsey Elisa Nickerson on August 15, 1806 in Madison Co., KY. (Alsey was born in Virginia.) They resided in Madison Co., KY until death as far as I know. Some of their children were:
Lucinda Todd
James Todd
Albert Todd
Angelina Todd
Hardin Todd
Mary Todd
Manurva (or Minerva)Todd
There could very likely be other children. I have been looking for about 20 years with deadends, and now I have begun to search other angles. If anyone can help, I would truly appreciate it.
Thank you!
