Names Ursula or Perthenia? (N.C. or KY?)
This is a long shot, but after 20+ years of working on this, who cares?
My ancestor was (one of several) Thomas Todd, born in N.C. (Rowan Co.?) in 1792, and apparently migrated to Madison Co., Ky. ca. 1797 with the larger Todd family from that area (i.e., Peter Todd, Benjamin Todd, Joseph Todd, etc.) and after all these years I have been unable to connect him in any way with any sibling or parent. His daughter URSULA PERTHENIA (youngest) married another Todd, Henry Irvine Todd (son of Peter Todd & Nancy Karr) in 1865, but I can find no verifiable kinship there either. His oldest daughter was named Martha Jane, Martha for the maternal grandmother. Was Jane the paternal grandmother?? I have been unable to find record of any Jane Todd who might have been a mother to Thomas (known by his contemporaries as "Sugar Tom" because he tapped maple trees and sold syrup.Sugar Tom owned no land that I can find record of and appears to have been living more or less at the charity of his grown children by 1860, and presumably he died within a few years of that date in Madison Co., Ky.I have found no record of the names Ursula or Perthenia appearing in the Carney family (Thomas married Charity Carney in 1824), hence my interest in those names appearing in another Todd family.
Any help appreciated!
