The name Todaro is derived from the Greek Theodora (gift of the Gods).
If you ever get to Venice you will see a statue of St. Todaro in St. Mark's Square.
[Right nearby is a famous ice cream parlor "al Todaro" Loose translation - near Todaro.] He was the first patron saint of Venice but was "dethroned" by St. Mark. If you Googlize "St. Todaro" you will hit some interesting web sites. Your fiancee might have also come in contact with my separate branch of the family from Sciacca Sicily. We had a second surname - Butera which came after "Todaro."

Al Todaro
