TO (short "o", as in "of") CHER (a Scots "ch", more like "h" than "k"; and a short "er" more like "u" in "up" than in "urn".
So your brother is closest, he has just Anglicised his "ch" to a "k".
Your Too-Cher is interesting. Sounds like the French name Toucher, which gets us back to this theories that the family came to Scotland from France or Germany.
What of your own family tree (I think there was an India connection?), what do you know of it? Have you traced your Scots roots yet?
