Faith,
seen yur querry on Tobias from Newark N.J.
Would you have any Tobias connections in Pennsylvania before 1900?
I have mystery on my Tobias family in Schuylkill County, PA
SOme of the PA Tobias family lines were not drwan out.
One of the the Tobias descendants sent me a 1894 picture - Photgrapher Wonder of Pottsville, Sch Co, PA.
Grandmother Catherine was she was called.
in 1894 Catherine Hoffa Tobias wf of War 1812 soldier Daniel Tobias had 16 children at the time of her death 1896 (age 97 years old only five children were living.
Now, She also has care for 4 grand children due to deaths of their parents.
Tis iswhat I found in one of the newspapers in 1894-West Schuylkill Press.
Donaldson, Miss Lucy Baily of Newwark, N.J. an interesting little miss of five years accompanied her grandmother on a visit to the latter's grandmotherthe aged, Mrs Catherine Tobias of town.
Grandmother Tobias has reached the extreme age of 94 years and up three or four years ago was remarkably healthy and strong.
After her healthbegan to fail her sight became greatly impaired until now she is totally blind and through weakness she is confined to her bed but. her fac.0ulties are very kee.n.and she still is interested in the affairs
of today. Photographer Wonders of POttsville on Sunday came to town and took the pictures of the aged lady and her great-great grandchild and the family feel justly proud of it.Miss Lucy grows in years she no doubt will be very much interested to know that she had the honor to represent the fifth generation with her maternal ancestor.
Did you research the 1900 census for TObias in Newark, N.J.?
Wondering if there were any Baily, Bayley, Bailey living near your Tobias's?
I hope you are still doing Tobias family researach.
Please answerer back,
Thanks,
Sharman
