Thomas Tobey/Tobbe
Posted by: Jim Wright (ID *****5300) Date: November 29, 2003 at 14:10:28

There was a Thomas Tobbe registered as a seaman aboard the Discovery, one of three ships that sailed to Jamestown with Captain John Smith. There was also a Thomas Tobey aboard a ship, "The Nachen", that docked at Monhegan island Maine in the early 1600's. I have been unable to find a connection to Thomas Tobey of Sandwich, MA., but geography, age and name are consistent with a possible relationship. Anyone out there have a thought on this enigma?
