Trying to find date of death on this person:
Lillian West (1879-c.1925). Painter, craftsman. Born in Chicago, IL on
Sept. 5, 1879. Tobey came to San Francisco in the late 1880s. She
studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute (1899-1901) and established a
studio at 414 Pine Street next door to Wm Keith and Maynard Dixon, the
latter of whom she married in 1905. After the earthquake in 1906, the
Dixons moved to Sausalito for one year. She then accompanied her
husband to New York and Tucson and returned to San Francisco in 1912.
Her long periods of depression and alcoholism led to their divorce in
1917. After further study at the California College of Arts and Crafts,
she was a member of the art faculty at UC Berkeley by 1918. She had a
studio on San Francisco’s Russian Hill before moving to Salt Lake City
where she died about 1925.
