there were several johnson families living in that area in the early 1800's, including my ancestrial line. i had been told that my line was native american, but that appears to be untrue. my oldest known johnson ancester, duncan johnson, died in wilson county, tenn in 1823. by 1850 it seems that most if not all of his children were in west tenn or tippah county, miss. i have seen where someone listed one son, duncan johnson, as remaining in wilson county. our records show that this duncan was born about 1810 and marries elizabeth nunley on jan 10, 1841. daniel alexander and malcolm were in central west tenn. john, catherine (james kinney), and mary (alcey pace) were in tippah county, miss. i am not sure where sarah (isaac neal) and christian (tristian patton) were living.
