I'm writing to you about this lady, Nancy A. Asby, because I am also looking for my Ashby ancestors as well as my Johnson ancestors in Tennessee, and I understand that Ashby was sometimes pronounced and spelled as "Asby". My gg grandmother, Elizabeth Ashby, was born about 1799/1800 in North Carolina and somehow, she got down to Jefferson Co., Alabama at least by 1823, and probably earlier, as she witnessed a will for a Duncan Johnson in 1823. Later in the same year she married my gg grandfather, Randolph Johnson, the oldest son of Duncan Johnson. Randolph was born in Tennessee, but I have no clue where. Now, I'm thinking that perhaps they were both in Tennessee when they met, instead of meeting in Jefferson Co., AL. So that's why I am interested in your Nancy Asby. Have you learned anymore about her and her family since your last post in 2005? Thanks for your response.
