Thanks, Emily, for your response. Looks like this may be another brick wall for me. And I was so in hopes! I feel my ancester Shepherd's family may have been in Wilson Co prior to 1850. At that time, he was in Carroll Co age 15, with Mary Ann Shepherd, age 37, b. N.C. (whom I believe is his mother and seems to be widowed).
. They are in the home of Briant Branch. By 1860, He has married to a girl who was raised in Wilson,( she is 17), still in Carroll and Mary in their home. Their older children named Mary Frances, Samuel Neal, William Alvin, Elizabeth Jane, John I., Robert L., etc. ( Notice these same names as in Rev. War Samuel Shepherd.) Looks like his son John has died by 1846/ .I have wondered how my ancesters got together, as her family was all still in Wilson except for one sister, then marries in Carroll.
I learned there was a J.L. Shepherd from Madison Co, who was killed abt. the time of battle of Alamo, which was shortly after the birth of my ancester and wondered if he could be a connection also.
Really appreciate your effort and if anyone else has Shepherd info, would be glad to hear from them. Thanks, again, Betty
