My grandfather George Shelby OLIVER, born in Nashville TN, 1875 was the son of Robert and Harriet OLIVER (sometimes found spelled as OLLIVER) from Wilson County TN.
According to information I received recently - Robert OLIVER, had 2 brothers - Douglas and Shelby, and 2 sisters Amanda and Lucy.
Shelby OLIVER married a Sarah Ann (unknown maiden name)- and they had 15 children, 10 living according to 1900 census for Wilson County which lists them as married 30 years.
D.o.b for Shelby 1850, Sarah Ann 1852.
In 1870 Census, Wilson County, Shelby is listed as 30 - which would make dob 1840.
The children were:
George OLIVER (b. abt 1878) m Neppie (b. abt 1878) - 6 children - Charlie, Minnie, Horace, Pauline, George and Alfred. I find George and wife Neppie living with Shelby in Lebanon TN in 1900 Census.
Annie OLIVER (b. abt 1889) m Courtney MILLER in Lebanon, March 16, 1906 - 3 children Oliver Dee, Mary Lee and Maxine
John OLIVER (b. abt 1882) - 2 children - Flora and Nellie
Horace OLIVER (b. abt. 1883)
Mamie OLIVER (born abt 1885)
Bessie OLIVER - 2 children - Mary and Joe
Kit (b. abt 1888, listed as Kittie in 1900)
Wendell OLIVER (b. abt 1895) - 4 children - Wendell Jr, Edward, Hilda and Dorothy
Edgar (b. abt 1897) - 1 child Edgar Jr.
a six month old daughter whose name I can't read on 1900 census
Listed in this new information also are the children of Douglas OLIVER, brother to Robert and Shelby:
I have not as yet found Douglas in any census.
Robert OLIVER (my great grandfather) and wife Harriet had 6 children:
John (nickname Yock)
George (my grandfather - nickname Hib - this I got from his obit in KS), son Jewell
Birdie m Walter GLENN, children Clarence, Robert, Walter and Harriet
Bartley - children Elizabeth, Milton
Would like suggestions on pursuing research in Wilson County. Since I have a marriage date for Annie OLIVER to Courtney MILLER, and know Annie was born in Lebanon - that town might be a good point to start.
