I wish I could be of more help to you, but I have only one entry for Belt. I have the following: Marcus W. Davis married second on September 27, 1880 in Benton County, Missouri, Mrs. Arsena Belt. He died November 20, 1906 in Benton County, and was buried beside his first wife in the Bird Cemetery. I have not researched this family thoroughly, and have not checked the 1900 census for this couple, but will try to do that in the near future. I live about 80 miles from Mid-Continent in Independence, Missouri, where they have all the census records. I go there quite often.
Can you tell me if Marcus Davis's middle name was Walker? He was born just about the time Marcus Walker was returning from the Seminole Wars and courting Priscilla Davis in Wilson Co., Tennessee, and we thought maybe the family had given him the name in honor of the returning "hero." The Davis family moved to Barren Co., Kentucky, in about 1839 where their last son was born before they moved to Benton Co., Missouri in about 1842. Marcus Walker and Priscilla Davis were married in Barren Co. in 1841, but returned to Wilson Co. until 1844 when they came to Benton Co.
We have a great deal of information on the Davis family. If you are interested, email me privately and we can talk it over.
