Do you know if your John Stuart/ewart PATTERSON had a brother named William? Could he have named his 1 st son for his brother?
I am really reaching, I know, but I am finding that these PATTERSONSs are not easy to trace!
"My" William had a son Benjamin Franklin PATTERSON as well, but in So. IL in 1845. Some of the family went to MO. as did yours. Keep me posted, maybe we can find that elusive connection.
