George M. Tucker 1850 Census in Wilson Co. TN

My Tucker ancestor is GEORGE M. TUCKER. He was born in Rutherford Co. TN about 1826, based on 1850 census and enlistment records.

He enlisted in the Mexican War from 14 Sep 1847 to 26 Jul 1848. Mexican War, enlisted at age 21, at Nashville, under Capt. Fulton, 14th Infantry.

He married MARTHA P. SWINK, daughter of MICHAEL SWINK & REBECCA BIVENS, on 2 Jan 1850 in Rutherford Co. TN.

They are listed in the 1850 census in Wilson Co. TN (adj. to Rutherford Co.) 22nd Civil Dist.,Wilson Co.,TN. Living in the same household with George (24) & Martha (20) are a JOSEPH TUCKER (15), and a REBECCA N. SWINK, (21). Joseph could have been a younger brother or possibly a cousin. (The LDS files have him listed as a son!) I've tried tracing him, but no luck yet. Rebecca N. Swink is most likely one of Martha's sisters, R. Narcissa Swink. Nearest neighbors are Edmond Crawford & James Baird.

In 1850 also living in the 22nd Civil District of Wilson Co. TN was a RANSOM TUCKER who left Wilson Co. in 1851 & a BENJAMIN TUCKER, have yet to find a connection with either.

From the births of their children we can see they were in TN thru 1851, then in KY by 1853, and in St. Francis Co. AR by 1855.

George died before 1860 in St. Francis Co. AR (now Cross Co.), so the 1850 census is the ONLY one where is he is listed by name.

My only source then for a clue was to look back over 1830 and 1840 censuses in Rutherford Co. looking for ANY Tucker with a son the right age to be George. Then factor in a Joseph, possible brother according to 1850 census. This narrowed it down to ONLY Mary M. Tucker (MARY M. FORD TUCKER). In 1840 she was a widow. When Mary sells property left to her by her father, JOHN FORD, in 1834, her husband is listed as MORADAY TUCKER. There was a MEREDITH TUCKER in the 1830 census (Moraday was often a nickname for Meredith), also with a son the right age to be my George. SO, I think this is most likely his father, but can find no other information on Moraday or Meredith Tucker. There was also a JAMES TUCKER nearby, who may have been somehow related, but I've not been able to verify a connection.

I haven't found anything new on this family since George M. Tucker's military enlistment for the Mexican War. Thank you to all of you who have tried to help in the past. Any help would be so appreciated.
