Do you have data on William Garner -- children, wife? Why you think he's father of John? Is there any Sturdy connection you know about?

I'm trying to connect the dots between Sturdy/Sterdy Garner in Pendleton Dist SC and a Wm. Sturdy of Wilkes Co NC, who may have been the husband of Dolly (Dorothy, probably) Wilbanks/Woolbanks, dau. of Richard Woolbanks whose will was proven 1790 Wilkes Co NC.

What do you have on the Garners? Just census -- or family data and stories?

A William Wilbanks with family are on the 1830 Williamson Co TN census; he is unidentified so far, but his family and age brackets seem to match what I know about my ancestor William Willbanks, who appeared on the 1840 census of Murray Co GA. His daughter Mary Ann Wilbanks married Bennett Springfield, s/o Thomas Springfield and Laodicea (Dicey) Langston of Laurens and Greenville counties, S. C. Bennett Springfield, Mary Ann, his wife, and their children were living adjacent to my William Willbanks in 1840 Murray Co GA.

Old William, his wife Rebecca (Dollar?), and unmarried dau. Nancy E. Willbanks removed by 1850 to Walker Co GA.
Wm. and Rebecca's daughter, Rebecca Wilbanks, had married 1842 Murray Co GA Andrew Johnson. She was living adjacent her father, mother and sister in Walker Co 1850.
Old William Wilbanks is thought to be the Wm. Wilbanks who was listed on the 1860 census mortality schedule for Madison Co AL.

The Wilbanks of SC (formerly of NC) removed to GA, TN, MISS, TX, ARK and other western areas as land opened up.
