Funeral services for John William Barnes, 82, retired carpenter, were conducted at 1 p.m. today at Cosmopolitan Funeral Home.
The Rev. Courtney Wilson, pastor of Woodbine Baptist Church, officiated and burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Mr. Barnes died of a heart attack at his home, 2209 Fox Ave. at 5 am Saturday. He was born in Williamson County, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Solomon Barnes. He received his education in Williamson County. Survivors include two sons, Randolph Barnes, Chicago, and Lonnie Barnes, Nashville, three daughters, Mrs. Grace Deweese, Mrs. Lonnie Sadler, Mrs. Jennie Hunter; three brothers, James, Robert and Edward Barnes; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Halfacre, Mrs. Eliza Parham, and Mrs. Frances Page; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, all of Nashville. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
