If it James Joslin who married Anna McElwain 2-4-1812 in Davidson County then his father would have probably been Benjamin. The Joslins/Jocelyns had some dealings in Dickson County. Dinah Joslin is one of my ancestors. E-mail and I'll give you what I have or you can look them up in the Dickson County Handbook or Tennessee Tidbits.
