The Old Buncombe County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Saturday August 20 at 2 PM in the society library at 128 Bingham Road, Suite 950, Asheville NC. Due to unavoidable circumstances, the program originally scheduled - The Plott Hounds of NC - has been postponed to a later date. In its place Elaine Dellinger of Yancey County will present a very interesting program in which she will discuss her new book "Yancey County" which is a pictorial history of the county and which was co-authored by Kiesa Kay. The book features more than 200 vintage images and memories of years gone by and is part of the well-known "Images of America" series by Arcadia Publishing. Highlights include Crossing Cane and Toe Rivers; Sweet taters, corn and tobacco; Blue Ridge, bluegrass and baseball; a backwards glance; and much much more. Mrs. Dellinger will be available for questions after the program. The public is invited to attend. As always, there is no admission charge for the program. For directions or more information, call 828-253-1894 or e-mail info@obcgs.com.
