I wish I could be more help with this family since my 2nd great-grandfather is also in this household, he's Andrew. I would guess that John is Alexander's father. According to the census John and Elizabeth (age 38) were married within the year and Alexander is listed as 8/12 of a year old so it would make sense that they were his parents. However with such a big family there is always the possibility that we have an extended family living together. If I ever discover additional information on this family I'll pass it along. Good Luck.
